Car Seat Headrest

★★★★½ [9/10]

created: 24/01/2024

This might be my favourite Car Seat Headrest "album" (EP in name only), even above Twin Fantasy. You hear a lot of discussion about whether people listen to music primarily for the lyrics or the sound, and why not both? The twanging melancholia that pervades through every single track on this EP leaves your soul hanging by a thread in between your local airport and greener pastures - the iconic half-singing-half-speaking-half-sobbing laments of the vocalist haunting your ears as he whispers of lost hope, regret, and a deeply uncomforting confrontation with an uncertain future. Not to mention how this EP *sounds*: no note of angst and heavy bass is left unturned.

Has it been made evident enough that, for lack of better words, I *fuck* with these song themes? It might as well be a concept album.

The Ending of Dramamine: dude, shabba de bop bop be shibby day, yo.
